ARTISTIC CAREER

Born in Vic (Barcelona), 1952. Studies Industrial engineering and works, with his father, in applied photography from 1966 to 1972.

1973 Esposition of mural photographs en the Aixelá Hall in Barcelona.

1974 Is given the Dotació d,Art Castellblanch grant. Present at the Rencontres Internationals de la Photografie d,Arles, where he attends workshops by Ansel Adams, Susan Felter, Neal White, Denis Brihart, Arthur Tress, Brassaï, Lucien Clergue, Lartigue and Jean Dieuzaide.

Makes the cover of issue number one of Ajoblanco magazine.
Collective exposition, “Spanish Photographers” en l,Spectrum Photo Gallery, Brussels.

1975 Gives classes at the Grup Taller d,Art Fotográfic, organised by Albert Guspi, director of the Spectrum Gallery in Barcelona, where he exhibits the Fang Series.

1976 Takes part in Mediterranean Photography workshop in Cadaqués.

1977 Is published in Nueva Lente (New Lens).
Exhibits in the Spectrum Gallery, Zaragoza.
Collective showing in the Madrid Museum of Contemporary Art.
Publishes the book Manel Esclusa. Fotografies, with Edicions Alabern

1978 Exhibits in the Canon Photo-Gallery, Amsterdam
Showing at the Fundació Joan Miró de Barcelona.
Presents the “Els ulls aturats” series at the Fotomania Gallery, Barcelona.

1979 Exhibits at the Voir Gallery, Tolosa
First Series about Gaudí in the Artema Gallery, Barcelona.
Collective showing in the Spanish National Tourist Office in New York and the Boston Institute of Technology.

1980 Collective expositions: Montpellier, Chatereaux, Nantes, Amsterdam, London, Edinburgh, Barcelona and Mallorca.

1981 Exhibits at the II Diaframma Gallery, Milán.
Showing at the Spectrum Gallery, Girona.
Presents the Sil-lepsis series at the Spectrum Gallery, Barcelona.

1982 Collective showings in Manresa, Bilbao, Gerona and Sao Paulo.
Exhibits Sil-lepsis in Gerona, Zaragoza and Guadalajara.

1983 Collective exposition at North Eastern University, Boston, Circle of Fine Arts, Madrid and the Centre of Photography, Houston.

1984 Presents the “Naus” series in the René Metras Gallery, Barcelona. Exhibits in the “70 Gallery”, Berlin.
Collective showings in: Sala Parpalló, Valencia, Casa de las Americas, Havana, Athens National Pinacoteca (Art Gallery), and the Center of Photography Research, Los Angeles.

1985 Presents the “Naus” series in: Junod Gallery, Lausanne, Nikon Gallery, Zurich, Visor Gallery, Valencia, Foco85, the Circle of Fine Arts, Madrid, Agorá Gallery, Torí, Europalia-85 in Brussels and in the New Image Gallery, Pamplona.

1986 Continues to exhibit the “Naus” series in: Vigo, Paris, Palma de Mallorca etc. Takes part in the “Six Monuments en Qûete d,Auteaurs” project, shown in l,Hôtel de Sully, Paris.

1987 Collective expositions in New York, “After Franco”. In London, “Spanish Photomontage”. In Barcelona, “Del Bell al Sinistre”.
